The Next Generation of Historic Preservationists in Charleston, SC

A PreserVISIONist is an individual with a passion for history, architecture, Lowcountry culture, and the overall livability of Charleston and the surrounding communities.

Who is a PreserVISIONist?

This group is perfect for someone who is interested in learning more about Charleston’s rich history and enjoys a variety of educational and social events that support non-profit organizations in Charleston; a young professional interested in networking with others who share a passion for this region, values advocacy and giving back to the community.

What will you do?

PreserVISIONists may enjoy a variety of annual events such as socials, educational events, family events, and exclusive PreserVISIONist only events while supporting Historic Charleston Foundation’s mission-driven work through membership-dues and other outreach events.

What are the benefits?

Membership in the PreserVISIONist includes early access to tickets for organized events, discount shopping at Shop Historic Charleston, and complimentary admission to the Nathaniel Russell and Aiken-Rhett House Museums. Historic Charleston Foundation will also be send out a quarterly newsletter to the PreserVISIONist members providing insight into current issues or successes in the world of preservation in Charleston and how to get involved. PreserVISIONists will also be the first to know about new programs and events with the Foundation.

What is the commitment?

PreserVISIONists are asked to pay an annual membership fee of $150 per person, or $200 per couple. The Foundation aims to build a membership community of young professional PreserVISIONists and encourage current members to invite friends and colleagues into the group.

What to Look Forward to:

Each year, PreserVISIONists will enjoy first access and discounted tickets for events designed with support of the PreserVISIONist committee. In addition, members receive exclusive access to a variety of complimentary educational, social, and family-oriented programming that may include:

  • Tour of ongoing preservation projects in the Lowcountry
  • Invitations to Forums focused on HCF’s advocacy work – tourism management, sustainable development, flooding and sea level rise, affordable housing, etc.
  • Holiday events at the House Museums
  • Behind-the-scenes tour of the American College of the Building Arts
  • Exclusive cocktail party for PreserVISIONists
