IMPACT 2018 Honors Sheila Wertimer
IMPACT is an annual event for women to celebrate women in the field of historic preservation. The Foundation was honored to celebrate as its 5th Annual Award Winner, Sheila Wertimer, for her work in preserving the lowcountry landscape. Her innovative, award-winning designs are noted for their sensitivity to Charleston's historic fabric. The event also raised funds to begin Phase One of the Nathaniel Russell House Kitchen Project. During Phase One, the 20th-century building materials will be removed to reveal the original walls and surface structures of the building. A recent discovery of artifacts and original construction materials perfectly encapsulated behind the walls of the property’s Kitchen House will enable the Foundation to share previously untold stories of the enslaved people who lived and labored on the property of one of Charleston’s most prominent families.Charleston Magazine’s November 2018 issues features a wonderful article accompanied by a moving video profiling the project. (To help celebrate this amazing work, Charleston Magazine is offering HCF constituents a subscription sale on Cyber Monday, November 26. Register here, and Charleston Magazine will send an email with sign up instructions.)

Save the Date!
By popular demand, Historic Charleston Foundation will host an event this spring in continuation of the fun and fellowship experienced at IMPACT. This will be a ‘friendraiser’ opportunity, not a fundraiser on March 28, 2019 at the Romney Urban Garden, a project funded in part, by IMPACT.
