The Lost Architecture: October Edition
Last month’s Name That Building elicited a large response! Congratulations to Nicky Steffel, whose name was selected at random. The answer is Union Station, which was located at the northeast corner of Columbus and East Bay streets. The station served passengers for the Southern Railroad, Atlantic Coast Line and Seaboard Airline. It was constructed in 1907 and destroyed by fire in January 1947. (HCF Archives Property File.) The c. 1910 photograph is from the Library of Congress Prints & Photographs collection. If you would like to participate in Name That Building, sign up for our newsletter.
