12 George Street. There’s no history on this house in HCF’s Archives. What is known is that it was built at the turn of the 20th century and was demolished in 1972 for the construction of townhouses. Historic Charleston Foundation did not oppose the demolition of 12 George, but Frances Edmunds did write to the developer suggesting that the neighboring 18th century properties at 6 and 8-10 George Street, also considered for demolition at the time, be restored.
